5 Stars Worked great for me!
I almost didn’t purchase this kindle book because of other reviews, however, after getting the sample ( I definately recommend tryin the sample if you’re not sure) I realized this is just what I needed. I now have a portable easy to carry version of the bible that I keep with me at all times. With the Kindle I can also post notes to certain sections to leave myself notes and lessons learned while reading..

Great buy!

1 Star Poorly written
This book is poorly written. The story lines are inconsistent. I don’t see a compelling reason to support the main character as his struggles are out of touch with reality and he often makes ludicrous, jealous and downright politically incorrect statements about race, women and people. I can think of many better role models from history (both ancient and modern).

I often get the impression that this book was written by a series of people just coming out of pre-history. They seem to know so little about the world around them and how it works. It’s as if they weren’t aware that the earth revolves around the sun and our planet exists in a solar system that orbits the center of our galaxy! Where’s the mention of dinosaurs? It’s missing presumably because they didn’t have the intellectual know how to dig for fossils. Often problems are solved in this book by sacrificial slaughter when a simple scientific test would have shown that the local well was infected with germs!

Seriously… out of date and silly nonsense. I suggest reading something else.

5 Stars Its free, its a bible, it fits on the kindle, whats not to like?
The title says it all really. Thanks Crossway Bibles! I would probably have been happy even paying 4.99 for it. Navigation can be tricky… but its free!

4 Stars An excellent Bible and navigation with one exception
I have no complaints whatever regarding the translation of this Bible. It’s eminently readable, retaining the dignity of the language even while seeking greater clarity.

Regarding the Kindle version, the navigation is easy and straightforward, though not as sophisticated as the TNIV, which has navigation straight to each book, chapter, and verse.

The only complaint I have for both versions is that you can’t tell what book you’re in. I like to read the Bible from the beginning of the old and the beginning of the new testaments simultaneously. It’s very easy to forget what book you’re currently in, and there’s no way to tell which one it is unless you page back to the beginning of the book and check. If you select “Go to beginning” on the menu, it takes you to the Table of Contents, not to the beginning of, say, Luke.

5 Stars comments about my Kindlw
I am very pleased with my Kindle2. I see that there is a new model. It is said to have the capacity for 3500 books. Maybe there is a reason for that many, but I don’t see how. I suppose that some day it might be possible to include a law library on the Kindle, but that would involve lots of search capacity and would be difficult to use for legal research, I think.

I also own a Sony ebook, which I have had for over a year. I purchased it because I could see it and hold it in my hand at a Borders Book Store. I couldn’t see a Kindle, and I decided to try the Sony first and see if I liked the concept. The Sony is a nice item. Purchasing books and getting them onto the device is a bit more time consuming, since it can only be done through my computer. However, with the purchase, I was offered 100 classics free. Also, moving around on the ebook seemed a little easier from the start. Making and finding bookmarks is a bit more straight forward. Page numbers make it easy to find one’s place also.

There are only 3 fonts for print on the Sony, which isn’t any disadvantage, really, since one finds a comfortable font and stays with it. The page turning buttons are more convenient, I think, and it is almost impossible to hit the wrong button. Finding one’s place in the book is easier with the Sony.

The ease of finding and purchasing the books, and the value for the buck in those purchases are two of the benefits of the Kindle. Sony books, for the most part, are quite a bit more expensive, and as I have said, more cumbersome to find, buy and load. Also, one can sample the sony books on the computer, but not on the ebook. Once it is on the ebook, you own it, like it or not. I have not owned the Kindle long. The service offered by Amazon is superb, rapid and complete!! I will undoubtedly keep using both e-books, and I won’t complain about either. Both are a monumental step up in techknowlegy, and I reccommend owing the Kindle to whomever asks me about it.
