BoneMans Daughters

BoneMans Daughters

They call him BoneMan, a serial killer who’s abducted six young women. He’s the perfect father looking for the perfect daughter, and when his victims fail to meet his lofty expectations, he kills them by breaking their bones and leaving them to die.

Intelligence officer Ryan Evans, on the other hand, has lost all hope of ever being the perfect father. His daughter and wife have written him out of their lives.

Everything changes when BoneMan takes Ryan’s estranged daughter, Bethany, as his seventh victim. Ryan goes after BoneMan on his own.

But the FBI sees it differently. New evidence points to the suspicion that Ryan is BoneMan. Now the hunter is the hunted, and in the end, only one father will stand.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars I liked it
I liked this latest book of Dekker’s.

It is my understanding that this is his first, “mainstream” book. I guess since it is a “mainstream” novel, the profanity that is absent from his previous works of fiction will show itself here. In my opinion, the book would have been just as well written without it, but oh well…

I have never written spoilers in my reviews and won’t start here, but I did not particularly care for one “twist” found near the end of the novel involving the protagonist’s daughter. It didn’t make sense to me in that I don’t know why it was there. It seemed to be something Dekker came up with just to give the book a “twist” but because it seemed tacked on, it fell flat for me.

Other than that piece, I really did like and enjoy this book. Keep up the good work Dekker this is one fan you haven’t lost yet (despite the profanity you felt you needed to include in your first “mainstream” novel).

1 Star Boneman’s Daughters –
Boring & Shallow

This book had such poorly developed characters that I could hardly finish the book. The naval intelligence dad is a mess and weak. His daughter is the teen from hell. Plot is totally implausible. I hated the ending – just dumb.

2 Stars First and last Ted Dekker
This book was disappointing. The characters were not believable and annoying. The main character, Ryan Evans is a super-genius. We know this because the book tells us many times. However, he manages to go the length of the book and do nothing to demonstrate it himself. He apparently had a nervous breakdown in military basic training, yet remained in the military. He gets captured in Iraq, then proceeds to run through the book like a crack junkie looking for a bathroom, reacting to stimuli and doing nothing that would let you admire him. The book ending is a joke, with him solving his problems the same way any 10 year old could. I will not buy another Ted Dekker novel. I recommend Lee Child’s books to anyone who likes a little action and suspense.

3 Stars Boneman’s Daughters
Hated the ending. Wanted it to wrap-up neater and the surprise at the end was a little far-fetched.

5 Stars intense! Very Ted Decker!
Edge of my seat from cover to cover. Never a ‘good’ spot to stop for the night, so…..didn’t. As with all his books, I love the moment the light bulb comes on and everything fits into place for the true ‘message’ behind it all! I love Ted Decker! He’s a fantastic author. Very gifted!
