1 Star Don’t buy this product!
right out of the box and it didn’t work. had to call for a repairman to change parts.
5 Stars Beautiful
. Con (personal taste):
- I personally like the frame of the old model (all black, no surrounding bezel).
. Pro:
- Picture: beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Haven’t got the chance to play fast motion picture, so don’t know how the 60 Mhz would perform.
- Sound: ok (like most other TV). I hook it up to external speakers for better sound quality, as you should do for any TV.
- Ports: good amount of ports, including 1 HDMI port and 1 USB port on the side (easy to plug in your other device like laptop).
- Shipping: fast & great. Delivery company will call you to schedule delivery time. They bring the TV into your house, open it up, and let you “visually” inspect the TV for any broken part, then sign the paper.
- Price: good price to me. I found a $100 coupon online, which brought the price down to $1175.
5 Stars Don’t know much, but know I like it
I’m not even a fan of television, but as the gracious hostess I wanted to have a nice sized TV for my living room for when other people wanted to watch. Read a bunch of reviews, got some other people’s opinions. Apparently once you get into the larger screen sizes, there’s less of a price difference between the name brands and the off brands. That proved true in my search, so I figured since I was spending the money, I might as well get the name brand. From what I could tell, a difference of $100-200 looked like it could make the difference in my TV being super-awesome-fantastic for years to come, or it completely dying on me right after warranty ended. Didn’t want to take my chances. (There was also a $100 off coupon the week I got it, made the decision even easier).
Crazy thing too, I ordered this on a Wednesday, and Amazon said it would arrive the following Wednesday. Well it actually arrived THE NEXT DAY. Free super saver shipping and I essentially got it over-nighted. Guess I was close to a distribution facility. The delivery guy brought it in, opened it up, and plugged it in to show me it worked. I like how it’s packaged, the top lifts right off. Not very heavy either. Menus are really easy to understand. I haven’t played too much with the settings, but when I do it looks like it won’t be any trouble. Seems to have enough settings that it can be customized to any environment. And lots of inputs if you need those.
4 Stars Great TV
We’ve been very pleased with this television ever since it came out of the box. The picture is excellent and the sound is excellent as well. Have been praising Amazon and our purchase to quite a few people!
1 Star Poor Support
I purchased this TV in January 2009 and in May it developed a problem with the controls no longer interfacing with the TV (remote and side controls). At this point the TV was unusable.
Then I entered into the nightmare of trying to get Samsung to fullfil their obligation under the warranty and repair the TV.
They sent a contractor that I can never get on the phone, shows up hours later then the scheduled time, and never follows through. I have had to take countless hours out of my work day to keep calling over and over in an attempt to resolve the issue. The contractor is US Techdisplay LLC.
The repair contractor has ordered parts, replaced parts, attempted three times to repair the TV. They said on the last visit that they would make a determination that the TV can not be repaired. Since that time I can not get an answer from Samsung and can not reach the repair contractor. The repair contractor will not return phone calls. When I speak to the Samsung Executive Customer Service I get no where.
So, I have a TV that cost over $1000 in my house that does not work and has not been replaced. I have taken off work to wait for the contractor on three seperate occassions and always have to make calls myself in an attempt to resolve the issue. However, nothing is being resolved.
The bottom line is that Samsung does not support their products and I advise your to buy another brand with better support so that you do not have to experience my nightmare.
