5 Stars Amazing picture quality!! Thrilled with my purchase!
I was hesitant to buy an LCD TV because so often they seem to have such poor contrast, have lot’s of visual artifacts and look horrible with fast moving scenes. However, Plasma technology is all but dead and there are no 37″ Plasmas anyway. So I decided to look at high end LCD’s.

I saw the Samsung LN37B650 at a local electronics store (for $300 more than the price on Amazon) and side-by-side it looked head and shoulders above all the other 37″ LCD’s in the store. After doing more research online and comparing specs, I decided upon this TV.

Amazon delivered to my home in Los Angeles in 5 business days through a delivery company called “Pilot”. The delivery arrived exactly within the appointment window I scheduled with Pilot, and the box and merchandise were in perfect condition.

I connected the TV to my HD cable box with an HDMI cable. HD picture quality is immaculate. I never could see the picture quality in SD at the local store, so I was surprised and thrilled to see that in SD the picture is every bit as good as my reliable CRT that this TV replaced. The SD picture on my 50″ Sony KDS-50A2000 does not compare to the excellent SD picture on the Samsung.

My only complaint is the lack of a printed manual. At these prices, Samsung shouldn’t have gone cheap by neglecting to add a paper manual. Having to review the manual on the TV is a pain.

I could’ve spent

4 Stars Pretty Good
So i bought this mount because of the good reviews posted about it. Everything was great until I had to mount the wall bracket. Being the perfectionist I am it took me close to an hour to figure out exactly how I want it hung, ie; height, where my outlet was, ect. Once I figured out where I wanted it to go it took only 15 minutes or so to get the wall mount set. Everthing from there was great but the reason why I marked a 4 star was due to the lack of illustrations in the directions. I’m a visualy learner and this lack of information is probably why it took me an extra 30 or so minutes.

All in all a good product. Total installation time was 1 hour.

3 Stars Not so heavy duty TV mount
The price on this TV wall mount was too good to pass up, but it is not very sturdy! This mount is barley capable of supporting a 50″ plasma. I am using it now for 4 months, but I worried about it the 1st week. So far it is still holding.

5 Stars Why wait??
Excellent mount for the price! As others have said, don’t pay 2 or 3 hundred, that’s just insane. This mount was every bit as good as a Sanus mount costing $90-$160 at a discount retailer! DON’T PAY THEIR PRICES!! JUST GET THIS MOUNT!! Awesome quality at an excellent rpice!!

4 Stars Great mount, great customer service, but took some time
It took about five days to receive this product and I only got the metal pieces. I called the company and they shipped the mounting hardware in two days and emailed me installation instructions immediately. I didn’t have to sit on hold forever and they were very friendly and helpful. We used this to hold a 42″ Samsung and so far so good! Oh and like everyone else has also said, don’t use the level because it’s definitely not accurate. :)

5 Stars Great Install.. Especially Screws
If you’ve ever mounted a TV before, you know drilling those screws into the stud can be an absolute pain.. pushing hard and risking stripping the screws. This mount had a great system. After you drill the pilot holes, use a socket wrench to install and tighten the screws. Amazingly simple and hassle free. Love it. Yeah watch the levels they are not accurate. Use your own. What a deal for so cheap. The tilt works as designed as well.

5 Stars Very nice TV set
This is my first digital TV. My existing TV is a 19″ RCA XL-100 I bought new in 1976. It has the old two-button remote using ultrasonic, no batteries. Still works great but I thought I’d just get a new TV and have both. Join the 21st century kind of thing. I heard that Samsung was the best brand for quality, and Sony was the same because Sony used Samsung parts. That’s what I had heard. I almost bought a 19″ Sony Bravia, I mean I was *that* close to buying one, but saw a picture showing the lame way it stands almost vertically (!) on the counter with a shaky center of gravity, ready to topple, and read a review that talked about that, where Sony expects you to tether the TV to the wall with a strap to prevent tipping. Very lame. So, it was a Samsung for me.

The Touch of Color thing was never explained well in the advertising. You pay more money just for a different color of case, it seems to be. Yeah, that’s what I did. It is a tiny bit pretty, a good thing, when compared to the funereal black of other digital appliances.

I took it out of the box, the stand was already attached even though the manual read like I needed to attach it. The instructions to attach it looked a bit confusing so I’m glad it was already attached. I placed it on the counter, read a little more, the first thing to do is have your TV scan for stations. Ok, did that. I am not on cable so I knew I had to attach external rabbit ears. My antenna had two U-clips while the TV had a protruding female coax jack with screw threads on the outside. My adaptor to convert the U-clips to a male coax connector was a push-on type and I think I had to damage a few threads on the TV jack, not sure, when I pushed the coax connectors together. But it worked and I get great digital picture.

You know, the thing no one points about about through-the-air digital reception is how perfect it is. We all know that through-the-air analog gives you various amounts of snow/static/fuzz at times, depending on how close you are to the source and how you position the antenna. That is, you will experience degrees of reception. We all grew up knowing that. However, with digital, there are no degrees of reception. No fuzzy. You either get no signal, or a perfect and beautiful HD picture. I bet the cable companies don’t want you to know that. After all, they got their start as the answer to snowy analog reception in remote areas. And how many people who currently are paying for cable would ever disconnect their cable to discover what I am saying? Might save a few bucks in this economy. And, at least where I live, there are several extra through-the-air digital channels that are not advertised anywhere! Who knew they even existed? I was pleasantly surprised! I watch them!

Anyway, the remote control looks standard, lots of buttons, the major ones are obvious and user-friendly. Again, my last remote had only two buttons: 1) channel changer clunk-clunk-clunk, and 2) ON, volume high; volume medium, volume low; OFF. So, all these new buttons on this new rmeote are so much fluff to me.

There is one slight bother about the case. On the front right, you can touch the case and change channels, do the volume, and a few other controls that I haven’t played with. Ok, but only the on/off button has an LED to guide you. For all other controls, you cannot see them or the labels for them unless room light or sunlight reflects on them just right. I had to shine a flashlight on them to see them. After a few weeks, I can guess their position, but sometimes I turn down the volume when I really wanted to change the channel. It gets slightly annoying. If it’s late at night or I am in no mood to fuss with it, I just grab the remote from whereever it is and use that.

Yes, I would get another Samsung, hands down. I am thinking about buying another flat screen TV soon. But, I also think not all Bravias have that bad design flaw of which I spoke, and maybe getting a Bravia might be an equally good idea for my next TV.

Hope this helps.

5 Stars Great picture!
I got this tv to replace one on my kitchen counter. It is connected to a cable and the HD channels are fabulous. The black with the tiny red tint is beautiful, but the picture quality is great. Well pleased.

5 Stars Great Picture
This little TV has a great picture and was extremely easy to setup. We also own a 46″ Samsung LCD and couldn’t be happier.

5 Stars Samsung LN19A650
Purchased this LCD to put into the bedroom of our motorhome and plan to purchase a 22″ for the front of our motorhome. These LCD’s save space and less weight. Excellent picture quality and like the features the remote control offers. Lastly, want to commend Amazon.com on the excellent service and response given to this buyer. Thank you so much.

4 Stars pretty nice for kitchen…
Bought this TV for our kitchen. Picture quality is great and sound is not bad. The TV is also a good looker. Am pretty happy with my purchase. Get HD channels by air, and the pickup quality is also good.

However, I would make a couple of changes:

- Redesign the remote. It looks as “old-age” and the TV looks “new-age”!!

- TV start/stop time is slow…after you press the button.

4 Stars archos is great!
I purchased this archos after my ipod touch was stolen. I wanted something that had internet access, had plenty of storage, and was a touch screen. after some research the archos seemed pretty cool. when I got it I was a little disappointed at the size and weight. be reminded this is a media tablet, not just an mp3 player. you cant just slip it into your pocket and go. it weighs about a pound. maybe a little more. the touch screen is great. although you have to press a little harder than the ipod touch. the screen quality is amazing! the downsides? you have to buy EVERYTHING! without purchasing the DVR station, the games that It allows on there, and some of the other plug ins, all you have basically is an ipod touch. so make sure you have extra money to purchase the DVR station ( if you want lIVE tv recorded onto your archos!, although it costs money to keep the tv on the archos) and some of the subscriptions to the things that are on your archos that you have to pay for. other than that, its a pretty cool device, and I would reccomend it to most people over an ipod!

3 Stars Everything is an add-on
I purchased this product and when I received it, it took me less than a day to realize that I had just paid nearly $300 for a big advertisement. I promptly returned the item.

The product comes with very basic capabilities out of the box. It can play non MPEG and non HD videos and MP3s. You can browse the internet but only after you register your product (why is this?). There are no flash apps or anything that come with it. Just about every menu item takes you to a video for an advertisement to buy the plug-in or attachment.

If you want it as an MP3 player, it will do that no problem. It’s just overpriced. However, if you want to enable all the features that it is advertised to have, be prepared to shell out significant amounts of money. The Cinema plug-in is $20, the HD plug-in is another $20. Attachments and docking stations vary a lot in price.

WiFi on this product is weak. It has trouble seeing and staying attached to signals. I have a 6 year old PDA which can see signals that are farther away and connect to them no problem (Archos 5 did not even see some signals which are close).

The screen is great. An 800×600 screen at this size produces great resolution. Also, it is relatively brigh and the image is visible even on a sunny day while in a shade (but not under direct sunlight). Touchscreen is responsive and accurate but can sometimes “stick”. For example, when you are scrolling through a list by dragging the list up and down, it may sometimes think you are selecting an item instead of scrolling.

Web browsing should be better for a product with the name Internet Tablet. Flash web pages don’t display properly without the flash plug-in which incidentally you have to purchase!!! Most static pages are fine.

I didn’t do very much sound testing but I suppose it sounds OK for a device this size. I have seen other brand name mp3 players which sound worse. The little speaker on the device is good enough for watching online TV which by the way is one of the few things included and you don’t have to purchase separately.

I returned the item because I thought that a device with this price range should be all inclusive and not a-la-carte like they chose to offer it. I thought I was buying a lot more than came in the package. This item has all its capabilities crippled by design so you can buy the functionality separately.

I have purchased from Archos in the past and I have been relatively satisfied by the perfomance of their products. However, Archos 5 is a big disapointment. I think they chose to be greedy and offer their product crippled and you have to buy the functionality separately. Common bait and switch. I gave 3 stars only because of the capabilites of the unit. If I was to be brutally honest this product deserves no more than 1 star for what you get out of the box.

3 Stars Okay if you’re willing to put up with certain issues
I’ve been interested in getting an Archos player for a few years and finally broke down and got the Archos 5 media tablet. It’s a great little gadget - I travel a lot and to be able to have ALL my music AND movies on one player is great.

-Yes, it holds all your music, say, your I-tunes library, but if you want to PLAY them, you have to buy the add-on.

-Really cool that you can record ANYTHING video onto it, but: First, you need to buy the docking station. Second, I have an issue with the unit overheating regularly which causes it to lock up. -You’re recording a 2 hr. movie and after 3/4 of it, the thing overheats and locks up on you. I have to put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes JUST to get it to shut off. THEN you have to let it cool down, delete and start all over again.

I would recommend waiting a few more years for Archos to WORK OUT THESE bugs before purchasing one of these units. Great idea, just not thought out. PLEASE Archos, get it together!

4 Stars Archos 5
This internet media tablet is awesome. For the same price as an ipod touch 16gig (i think) you get 160 gb plus an option to watch tv. The only reason i give it four starts is because the battery life isnt that great. Overall i would recommend this to everyone.

1 Star Doesn’t work after Digital TV Transition in the U.S. on June 12, 2009.
I am very disappointed with Archos customer support. My Archos became unusable after Digital TV Transition in the U.S. on June 12, 2009. When attempted to record TV shows from Direct TV onto my Archos. The sound became staticky. I make sure I downloaded the latest firmware and still couldn’t get it to work again. I called and email Archos customer support multiple times but their staffs are not knowledge about product. All the questions asked they have gave me incorrect answers. They are only good for taking your information if you have to file an RMA. In addition, don’t expect the TV Guide that comes with your docking DVR adapter to work. Archos customer service told me it hasn’t been working for the last 3 months because they can’t afford a new server.

This is a terrible experience; I wasted $400 for a piece of junk.
