This is my first HD TV. I really like the look of it with the Touch of Color.

We decided with ours to get AppleTV as it has an HDMI interface and we will cancel cable. Well, I paid more for the 750 series because it is 120hz, be aware that AppleTV is still on 60Hz.

I got a great deal on it from HH Gregg and the few programs that I’ve seen in HD are unreal. Standard Definition is annoying on any HDTV.

5 Stars 10 month review. Very pleased! DLNA works fine with PlayOn
I purchased my LN46A750 from Amazon in July 2008, and it was a great decision. I have 6 devices connected to it:

(1) Sony HTCT100 Sound Bar W/Sub-Woofer (connects 3 HDMI devices to tv)

(2) TW Digital Cable Box (2 connections: HTCT100: HDMI SAT, TV: Component)

(3) Sony Playstation3 (HTCT100: HDMI PS3)

(4) JVC XVN670B upconvert 1080p DVD Player (HTCT100: HDMI DVD)

(5) Dell SX-280 2.8ghz pc w/wireless keyboard (tv: HDMI/DVI)

(6) ReplayTV RTV-5040 PVR 320GB (tv: component)

I also purchased a Harmony One remote to control all these devices, and it does a splendid job. I have my TW digital cable box set up so that it just uses tv input for regular viewing (via component), and the option to use the nice Sony HTCT100 (via HDMI) when watching movies, etc. For the PS3, I bought a PlayStation 3 Blu Wave so that the Harmony One could communicate with it.

As far as the halo effect, the only time I think about it is when I read the reviews here. My LN46A750 sits about 12 feet away from me at about 45″ eye level. As far as window glare is concerned, there is very little. So for me, the halo effect is a non-issue.

The ethernet connectivity, along with DLNA support is great. Many people have had problems with Samsung LN46A750’s DLNA capabilities, so I didn’t bother trying it for myself until just recently. PlayOn has a service whereas you can watch Netflix, Amazon VOD, Hulu, CBS, YouTube and ESPN directly from your Samsung LN46A750. However, for this to work, you need a computer which is at least a dual-core 1.5ghz. I personally just use my Dell D620 2.2ghz dual-core laptop. I am using a Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router. Under router settings, make sure to enable UPnP and Filter Multi-cast. Both my Dell D620 running PlayOn and Samsung LN46A750 are connected via cat-5 cable. Also, my LN46A750 is set up to receive automatic IP address, not static.

I have broken down using PlayOn into 2 steps:

(1) PLAYON SET UP (2) PLAYON VIEWING.

The REFERENCE section is located near bottom of this review. Actually you should read it first before installing PlayOn. Learnng PlayOn is somewhat confusing at first, but it will soon become second nature for you. It is well worth the time and effort.

Step (1) PLAYON SET UP:

Download Playon’s software to your computer from www.themediamall.com/playon.

After installation and verifying Playon Media Server is Running (see REFERENCE section below), your computer now becomes a server to your Samsung LN46A750.

Step (2) PLAYON VIEWING:

Turn on just your LN46A750 and press the W.LINK button on the remote. You should see a WISELINK Pro menu with Photo, Music, Movie and Setup icons. Using your Samsung remote, click GO RIGHT until you reach the Movie icon. On movie icon, click the ENTER button. Sometimes it takes a second for remote command to take place on screen, so be patient.

You should now see folders for Netflix, Amazon VOD, Hulu, CBS, YouTube and CNN. The folder you are currently on is larger than the ones beside it.

Next, practice by accessing latest “The Academy” episode under Hulu:

Click ENTER on the Hulu folder, and message “UPPER FOLDER” appears. Click GO RIGHT until you are on TV Episodes folder, then click ENTER. Again, UPPER FOLDER shows. Click GO RIGHT until you see the A Folder, and click ENTER. UPPER FOLDER shows. Then click GO RIGHT and click ENTER on The Acadamy folder. UPPER FOLDER shows. To the right you will see actual episodes (Movie camera icon). Click GO RIGHT to the first (latest) episode, and then click ENTER. Once selected, a count-down pinwheel with message “Preparing to Play” appears in righthand corner. It takes about 8-10 seconds for pinwheel to go full circle. The selected video may start within 1-3 seconds, or the pinwheel may go full-circle twice before show starts. It doesn’t seem to follow any particular pattern.

Okay here is where the confusion arises… the pin wheel may go full circle, either once or twice, and message “NOT SUPPORTED FILE FORMAT” appears. If this occurs, immediately press RETURN (twice) very quickly. Sometimes, it works better to click RETURN twice quickly, then once more a split second later. The object is to back up one step, so that you can re-select episode by clicking ENTER again. For whatever reason, your desired show will activate fine the second time. This happens fairly frequently, but is an easy issue to deal with.

Once your ahow has finished, you can either press EXIT to return to WISELINK Pro main menu, or click RETURN a few times to return to Hulu’s TV Episodes menu. Each time you click RETURN backs you up one step.

TIP: You can either click GO RIGHT for latest episodes, or GO LEFT for earliest episodes. You can also use yellow button on your remote to mark several episodes so that they will be viewed consecutively.

REFERENCE SECTION.

Playon settings:

To get there, either double-click on PlayOn shortcut icon on your computer desktop screen, or go to Start/Programs/Playon/PlayOn Settings. Under Playon settings you have 5 tabs, with General Settings, System Check and User Accounts being most used.

Under General Settings tab, make sure Playon Media Server is Running (Green Light). If not, click the Start/Stop PlayOn server button to start service. Green light appears within 5 seconds.

Under User Accounts tab, fill in your info if you have Netflix account. If you have not already done so, you should go to hulu.com/youtube.com and sign up there. Enter your hulu and youtube info under Hulu Account and YouTube Usernames, respectively. Make sure to test your account(s) by pressing Test button.

Samsung remote:

Navigation wheel is located in center of remote. On the outside of this wheel, you can move about by clicking GO UP/GO DOWN or GO LEFT/GO RIGHT. The button in middle of this wheel is the ENTER button (also used as Pause/Continue during PlayOn play back). The W.LINK button is located right of green MENU button, or just above RETURN button. During PlayOn viewing, correct use of RETURN and EXIT buttons is important. Use RETURN to back up one step, use the EXIT button to return to original WISELINK Pro menu.

4 Stars No Wireless!
First of all I will say that after much research I bought this television. The picture is stunning! Standard broadcast looks pretty decent and the HD broadcasts are amazing. It is so clear that you can see every detail on actors faces and you realize that they cannot airbrush actors when you are dealing with high definition television. I like the reality this tv presents.

The comments about the difficult to use remote were unfounded and it seems quite straight forward to me. I also have not had any problem with light bleeding into the room or any ambient light issues. So I am glad that I didn’t listen to the negative reviews here. It could be that the issue was resolved by the time my set was manufactured in January 2009.

My only disappointment was with the fact that my ten day old new television purchase does not have any option for wireless Internet. The wireless link stick that is supposed to provide this functionality has been discontinued. I contacted Samsung customer care and they were truly worthless as was their online submission form. Both the online and phone support told me to contact their part supplier. The part supplier and the phone support told me that it had been discontinued. There was no further information available. I know they had extensive problems with the link stick device, but it makes you wonder what kind of company pulls a product feature on a current production television.

So if you have to pay a premium for this set and expected wireless capabilities you will be disappointed. I expect that I will eventually hook this up to a media center pc and therefore can work around this issue. Luckily for me I paid about the same amount as the 650 series and I don’t have any regrets.

We Read Alot Of Reviews Before Deciding To Buy This TV.

The television is great for playing games and and watching tv. There isn’t any ghosting at all. The frame scratches very easliy if you not careful but this doesn’t affect the performance and you don’t see them unless you are looking rate at the frame close up. So make sure to use a soft cloth when cleaning the TV. We are very satisfied. My son loves it for his playstation 3 games. The red touch of color isn’t very noticable at all. thanks samsung

1 Star What a disappointment!
I received this TV as a Christmas gift. It is in our bedroom and get very gentle use. In fact, many times days go by when it isn’t even turned on at all. It already doesn’t work Less than four months old and the picture doesn’t always come on. The best part is, that to have it fixed, I have to pay for “proper shipping materials” to send it to them, do without for two to three weeks, and then get it back. If it is damaged in shipping and they determine it is because it wasn’t packed “correctly” they won’t fix it. So I get to pay fifty bucks in packing materials so that I can get a new TV fixed. GREAT POLICY!!!!

I will never buy a Samsung ANYTHING again.

I have had this tv for 3 weeks and its been awesome. The colors are vivid, the sound is crisp and the use of the new style remote is simplistic. I have it hooked up to DirecTV and notice no blurry or pixelation on sports programming whatsoever. I would disgreard knee jerk negative reviews of this product. This is my 3rd Samsung and have not had one bad experience yet.

This is my first flat screen and I love it. I had reviewed consumer reports and though the 19 inches were not reviewed Samsung was highly rated in other categories. I have not been disappointed. The picture is incredible and the sound is superb. This is the perfect small flat screen you’ve been looking for. Remember it is 19 inches. You might want to go to 22 for bedroom or another area. This 19 is perfect for kitches, work rooms, etc. Love this little Samsung!

1 Star No TV schedule available
I purchased this accessory to record television off of my satellite television. According to the specificationa, program scheduling could be downloaded from the Archos servers. This promise turned out to have been false. Archos customer service says the “servers are down”, but this has been going on for weeks. If you want to use an Archos tablet as a Tivo device, don’t buy it.

4 Stars Archos DVR Station
I bought an Archos 5 for my 2.5yr old to use on road trips. The DVR station was a must have for me because I copy cartoons/kid’s from cable stations or from cable DVR. There is also a TV channel guide you can load to allow the Archos to act as a DVR station itself to record shows on a schedule basis. The only downside I see is it can only record one show at a time (because it physically changes your cable box to the channel you want to record at a specified time). My current cable DVR box can record 3 at once. It is also convenient for charging the Archos device. I highly recommend purchasing this along with your Archos.

I loved my old Archos 500, but left it on a plane. Decided to get the Archos 5 and the DVR station. Both are a little buggy with inconsistent performance. I’ve already returned both units for replacements, but probably should wait on the Archos 5g. The first DVR station had the tendency to freeze the Archos 5 requiring numerous resets. Unsure whether it’s the 5 or the Station.

The concept is nice and it was pretty easy to connect the Station to the TV. However, the TV Guide function did not work for my area (Wash. DC area). There may be too many channel guide options in the area. I did successfully get the 5 to record manually. Still, both 5 units had problems syncing video and sound. Lips move out of sync with sound. Maybe it will fix itself with time.

1 Star DVR station won’t work
I got this DVR station as part of a bundle deal with an Archos 5 and it does not function as advertised. I actually went through two of these and neither of them work properly. I tried connecting it to a Vizio HDTV and I could not get it to output through HDMI, Component (RGB), S-Video or Composite (yellow, red, white). I tried multiple cables of each type and tried connecting it to 2 different HDTV and an old standard def tv. It worked twice but if I undocked and redocked, it wouldn’t work again. I thought it was a bad DVR station and Amazon sent me a replacement but I had the same results (or non-results?) with the second one too. I called Archos tech support and they thought it was the DVR station(s) too because I did everything right with the connections and various cables. It was able to get input from a digital tv tuner and record with no problems. I’m only keeping it because I don’t want to deal with a second return, because I got an extremely good price on the bundle and it’s worth it to me to keep as a charging base even though I can’t output to my tv.

5 Stars Great products, great prices, outstanding customer service!
I recently ordered two mounts. Unfortunately, only one arrived on the scheduled delivery date. I contacted their Customer Service group via email and received an immediate response. They apologized for the inconvenience and decided to file a claim for the missing mount. Then, they sent another mount 2-day express. I don’t know about you but I am not used to a company taking responsibility for delivery issues and resolving the problem quickly. The mounts are excellent. They fit perfectly to the LCD and the wall. My only complaint would be that the distance between the farthest holes were barely 16″ wide (typical span between studs). But I was able to align this just right using an electronic stud finder. I research many many site to find a mount for the right application and right price. Trust me, you will be extremely pleased with their mounts. Other similar mounts cost double. They provide all the hardware pieces you’ll need.

I just used this to mount a 32″ lcd to the wall. I wanted the smaller mount for it (the one that only goes to 37″) so the ends don’t stick out, etc. The harware pack was complete, and everything went together very nice. The mount itself is extremely sturdy, and the metal is nice and thick too. The black finish is nice also.

I will definitely recommend Cheetah Mounts to everyone I know that needs to mount a lcd or plasma.

Shipping was fast. They shipped this product the same day I ordered it.

4 Stars Great Product For the Money
I just bought a 32″ Samsung LCD and decided on this mount for it.

Pros: For the price, this is a great deal. I have no experience with other brands of mounts, but I’ve found this one to be very sturdy and feel comfortable hanging a 30lb TV on it.

Cons: While this was a great purchase for the money, here are the negatives I’ve found about this mount.

1) The reason I took a star off was because of the design of this mount. Adjusting the screws is very difficult once the TV is hanging. In addition, I needed to get an extra long screwdriver to adjust the bottom-locking screws. I do not have experience with other mounts though, so this may be standard. Still though, it could be a little better designed to be user friendly.

2) The built in level seemed to be off. However, Cheetah includes a free level with this model and I used another one I had just to double check.

3) The directions were straight forward, however, they recommend an 3/16″ drill bit for the pilot hole. I found this to be way to small to fit the anchors in and had to use a 3/8″ drill bit to get them to fit. Don’t try to hammer and force them in, you will just damage the anchor. It should be snug though. 3/8″ bit worked.

Overall this was a great product for the price, and I would definitely buy it again.
