5 Stars Great Samsung Quality – Top Notch Value TV
This TV is simply incredible. I purchased the 46″ 860 instead of the 52″ 750 based on the <2″ thickness, the blue ToC instead of red, and price.
I did extensive research for several months before deciding on this TV, and I consider it to be the best electronic investment I have made to this day. The picture quality is superb, and it has the features I need without too many useless extras.
I will say the PC Share software isn’t the most feature-rich program I have used, but it does the job. I shared over 15GB of photos and 50GB of music, and although it took the software all night to index the files when I first shared the folders, I was surprised at the speed at which I could surf through the files through the TV’s Wiselink Pro interface (I was hoping for faster, but expected slower). My only complaint is that I cannot get the photos to display full screen, which doesn’t make any sense to me because they are large, hi-res, digital images many of which are over 10MB in size.
Does anyone know whether the software upgrade can be performed via wired ethernet instead of using the USB wireless dongle or a USB flash drive? FYI – to find out firmware version navigate to the software upgrade option in the setup menu and press Info while it is highlighted.
6th Avenue sent the TV with original manufacturer box inside larger box with additional packaging materials. I have ordered numerous 32″ and larger LCDs online before, and every one has been shipped in its original manufacturer box – I was very pleased with these guys. Also, I specifically avoided Electronics Expo based on the previous reviews, and considering I have had the TV for several weeks now with no problems, I am happy I did.
I purchased the motorized Samsung wall mount to see if it would work with this TV (says it’s only designed for 2007 models, but have read many people have 2008 models working). It is not yet mounted, but once I do mount it (next week) I will write up a review on the wall mount (WMN5090).
If you are considering other TVs in the < $2000 price range and are not intent on getting the absolute biggest TV for the money, I recommend purchasing this TV instead of anything out there. You will not be disappointed (unless maybe you order from Electronics Expo).
4 Stars great tv bad remote
The LN46A860 has a great picture but has a less than adequate remote controller. The batteries in the remote only last a few weeks and I can not get it to control my Scientific Atlanta 4200HD cable box. I contacted Samsung tech support but they were unable to help. Great picture, bad remote and tech support.
3 Stars Great TV, But Beware of Electronics Expo!!!!!!!!
I purchased this the 52 inch version of this product through Amazon from Electronics Expo. I received the TV on time, spent 5 hours setting it up with my home theater and making sure everything was perfect. The picture quality is absolutely amazing. 4 Days later while watching the basketball game, the TV made a loud popping noise and turned off. I was unable to get a picture after that. I contacted Electronics Expo thinking they would just send me a new one since the one I bought was defective. Boy, was I wrong. The person I spoke to went on for several minutes about their policy and made me feel like it was my fault the TV died. He said there was nothing they could do and asked me to call Samsung. I then contacted Samsung and was told they would need to send a service tech out to look at the TV but it would be about a week before he could come out. I had no choice so I waited, took the day off from work when he was scheduled and then he didn’t even come out. He called me the day of and asked what the problem was and I told him. He said there was no need for him to come since he knew what was wrong with the TV. He said he would have to replace the panel but did not have any available and would have to order one. He said they would call me to re-schedule the service. It has now been 3 weeks and I am still without a TV. I have contacted Samsung and they tell me to call the local service center but when I do I get an answering machine. I tried contacting Electronics Expo to see if they could call Samsung on my behalf. I was made to feel like a nuisance but afetr talking to a supervisor she took my information and said she would call Samsung on my behalf and would call me back to let me know what they said. I never heard back from her. Needless to say, this purchase has been a nightmare. I had to send in my credit card payment for the purchase price of the TV already. It doesn’t feel good paying over 2 grand for a product that doesn’t work. I am not giving this TV a bad rating, it is a wonderful TV, but I feel its necessary to warn other people before they purchase through Electronics Expo.
5 Stars Samsung 860 review
This flat panel television is great. Everything works as advertised. The picture is incredably clear. Even though the newer Samsung thousand series models (6xxx, 7xxx) use LED rather than fluorescent, the thousand dollars saved makes this a better value. I chose the 46 rather than 52 inch due to installation constraints.
5 Stars Very good first impressions!!
I purchased this TV at Electronic Expo, just like another reviewer here a week ago. I will say that the sales people there are rejects from car dealerships, but they want to make a buck just like everybody else.
So far it has performed flawlessly and the picture quality is outstanding. I am still playing around with the different settings and trying to come up with the best possible picture.
There is one thing I would like to ask anyone owns the 8 series (850 or 860). Why can I select the “AUTO” setting under the “ENERGY SAVINGS FEATURE”? I am able to select all other choices except that one. Is there another setting that overrides this one? I called Samsung and they were not aware of anything that could affect this setting. The TV is hooked up the a FIOS HD box via HDMI cable supplied by Verizon.

Product description indicates this unit comes with a 9 foot power cord…which is why I ordered it. Unit I received had 6 foot power cord. Unit shipped also does not come with the accessories indicated in description. No coax, no phone cable. I contacted seller and will update this review after I see how they plan to correct this. Update 8/26: Seller indicated they did have the same model with the 9 foot cord and indicated accessories, but refused to send replacement until I returned the incorrect one. They then sent an email with return instructions insisting I would have to PAY for insured return shipping!! They acknowledged there was a model with a 9 foot cord as advertised in their specs, and that they did not send me that model, but did not seem to find any fault with themselves? Beware the east coast online electronics retailers!! Took advantage of Amazon A-Z Guarantee and had my refund in 3 days. AMAZON’S CUST SERVICE IS ALWAYS NO HASSLE AND AWESOME!! I always buy items that indicate “Shipped from and sold by Amazon” when possible, but took a chance this time. Who came through….47th Street Photo? NO!! Amazon did!!
4 Stars Good strip; but seems rather cheap quality.
When I saw this; I first thought this would be great for my computer as I have one from monster that’s similiar (and 3 times the price (I purchased this for $50.00)).
When I got it home, I was a little disappointed in the quality of it. It’s very lightweight; not at all as sturdy as I would have thought from looking at it.
Having said that; it does what it promises and I do like it a lot! For the price, you can’t go wrong (assuming it stays around $50.00 
)
