5 Stars Awesome monitor and TV!
I have this hooked up to my laptop as an extended monitor with an HDMI cable, hooked up to my desktop PC as an extended monitor through a DVI cable, and hooked up to my cable box through another HDMI cable. I switch between sources using the remote control. Everything works great! Price was unbelievable for everything you get with this, including a TV tuner (if you need it). Like one other review said though, just make sure your video card can handle the capabilities of the resolution and dual monitor configurations.
5 Stars Looking for the best of both and got it
From all aspects, I am pleased with this purchase. Quality, price, delivery and service have all been the best. Thank you Amazon
3 Stars viewing angle issue
Viewing the T260HD TV monitor from about 2 feet or less, with your eyes at dead center, colors at the top are much darker than colors at the bottom. If brightness/darkness of colors when viewing up close matters to you, beware.
2 Stars Review for Just the TV Aspect of Monitor
As the title of my review stated i’m basing my review on just the tv aspect of the t260HD not for a computer monitor. I’ve had the samsung t260HD now for about 7 months and i can honestly say this is definitely not a good monitor/tv for basic cable watching. First of all the picture if somewhat very washed and lacking in color. What makes it frustrating is the viewing angle.. i rushed into buying this tv/monitor and ignored the viewing angle specs. The up and down vertical viewing angle is horrific. As you watch this tv at a low angle dark scenes becoming extremely dark and you can barely see anything. HD in this however is exceptional. The higher you put the contrast and brightness the more the colors get washed. overall i don’t recommend this product for watching television, i can’t put my input on the monitor b/c i haven’t used it via computer.
5 Stars Quality Built, Perfect size, Tons of features
First off, if you are looking at these reviews, you are attempting to do your homework, which is a great thing. Larger sized monitors are not cheap and you want the best bang for your buck, obviously. So, with that said…here’s my review on the Samsung T260HD.
Originally, I was going to use this product in my office as a monitor for my PC. I do some graphics work and 3D (Autodesk) work here and there. It’s nice to have the workspace provided in a 24 inch monitor or larger. I originally had a 20 inch Dell (which worked great), but I noticed over time, I always found myself leaning forward to see the monitor…which caused slight pains in my back later on that night. Working at a high resolution will also cause this issue, as the text/font becomes much smaller, along with icons, images, etc.
A friend of my called me up and mentioned this monitor was on sale, and when I saw that there was a huge rebate on it, it soon became an impulse buy. After I made the initial purchase, I thought…hmm…I didn’t do too much research on OTHER monitors, so I don’t know if I am really getting that good of a deal. Luckily, I was. I quickly went through dozens and dozens of reviews on other monitors (Hanns 28 inch, Acer 25.5, DoubleSight, etc.). Honestly, I’m not sure why anyone would purchase another monitor, anywhere else, unless you were looking to spend crazy cash…(i.e. Apple 30 inch monitor).
Upon the arrival/opening of my new 25.5 inch HD monitor from Samsung, I was very pleased. As usual, Amazon shipped it in a very timely and secure fashion (they’re much better now – and the free shipping is always a plus).
The construction is really, REALLY nice quality. Even better than some of the best Dell monitors we have at work. They have really thought about the connections and the TV tuner is a nice added bonus.
When I finally went to install it, I actually found myself using this monitor as a TV instead in our bedroom. It’s size is just right for our tall dresser and almost feels like the room is a tiny bit bigger (we replaced our tube 20 inch tv). One important thing I would like to clarify on this LCD. The viewing angle at eye level is great. Side to side and kinda looking down on it isn’t bad either. However, as you begin to look up at it (i.e. mounted high or if you were on the floor) it becomes very dark…so you may want to take that into consideration. With all this said, here’s the (quick) rest of the breakdown:
- nice laid out menus and easy to setup/clear channels
- speakers are FAIR…but this is expected on this size of a LCD TV
- connections are well thought out and plenty of options
- resolution is nice and crisp, no vague lighting spots
- build and construction is of great quality. I applaud Samsung’s design
- clarity and color are nice. Some of the channels themselves may broadcast in different colors/brightness’ as we have found out.
Overall, we are very pleased with this HDTV, so much that I bought practically this same model (the T260) for my office, which I wrote another review for…has some other details…
Hope this helps with your decision.
Samsung LN52A630 52 Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

Samsung 630 model HDTVs offer an ecxellent value in a full-featured 1080p LCD HDTV, offering a substantial price savings compared to their sister 650 series, with only a moderately lower dynamic contrast ratio (40:000:1 compared to 50,000:1 on the 650 series) and one less HDMI port (three, as compared to four on the 650s). But the 630s offer the same blazing-fast 4ms response time and rich connectivity features as the 650s, Seris 7, and Series 8 LCD HDTVs, as well as the same stylish “Touch of Color” color-infused bezel. Enjoy MPEG and JPEG files stored on external devices by connecting through a side-mounted USB 2.0, turning their LCD into a full-scale home viewing gallery, or connect their MP3 players for a dynamic audio experience.

Samsung enhances the clarity of select LCD HDTVs by replacing the light-diffusing plastic face of traditional LCD HDTVs with a natural black panel with a clear anti-glare shield. Reduced reflection of external light creates a new dimension in image clarity, highlighting black and darkened areas, enabling vibrant, more compelling colors and a brighter, clearer picture. Black will never again appear grayish. Black details will show in vivid black even in dark scenes.
The latest version of Samsung’s breakthrough super clear panel technology makes colors appear more vibrant and blacks even deeper than ever. Enhanced films reduce glare and optimize off-angle viewing. |

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.
If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

5 Stars A good purchase
I replaced a DLP set with the LN52A630. My requirements were 48″ – 52″, a matte screen, and 120Hz minimum, and current in HDMI spec. I have a bit of a trained eye and know how to calibrate, and I’m very particular in general. Wow, I says. Wow. This came from the factory calibrated nearly perfectly. I fine-tuned only the contrast, bright and sharpness only for my viewing distance. The blacks couldn’t get much better for an LCD, and there are ample opportunities for on-screen adjustments. Menus are pretty logical. I’m really straining to find artifacts in the image, and the motion is fluid. Amazon delivered much more quickly than I anticipated and the delivery company was very courteous. Honestly I was nervous about buying something like this online, but it was a good transaction and I’d do it again! Excuse me, I have to get back to watching TV now…
5 Stars Great buy
Checked all the reviews, got a great price from amazon. Have tv for a month now, no problems great picture. Recommend buying!
5 Stars OUT-FRIKKIN-STANDING!! Cannot Believe I Waited So Long
For years I was on the bleeding edge of technology and gadgets and such, but had fallen well behind the curve and actually enjoying it. The past couple years I purposefully avoided going to folks houses that had nice HD tvs — as I knew I’d get the itch. Welp, after watching the entire BCS championship at a friends … I started my research. Reviews from CNET, Amazon, Best Buy, etc. Plasma vs. LCD. Sizes. Resolution. Everything we all go through when trying to make a major purchase…
I decided on this Samsung LN52A630 in mid-February.
I have never been more pleased with a major electronics purchase.
Personally, physical dimensions played a big role for me actually. I had a ‘slot’ that I needed to replace my decade-old 60″ rear-projection tv, and wanted to minimize what I would need to accommodate a new tv. This particular tv fit perfectly.
Beyond physical dimensions, I had initially decided on the 550 due to price and middle-of-the-road contrast ratios and features. Reviews on the Samsungs were all great. I obviously went with LCD over plasma (just personal preference). I visited stores to look at the side-by-side comparisons. I watched prices. And finally pulled the trigger on the 630 (with the non-glossy screen and the 120Hz) at a price dip. The higher end 700, 800, 900 series have some more bells and whistles and contrast ratios and such, but the 500-600 series looked great in the stores. And here’s they kicker: they look even BETTER at home!!
It looked GORGEOUS out of the box. Literally. Was not believing my eyes. A friend with a Sony Bravia commented ‘I think this looks even better than my picture’. Indeed. I played with various video settings, and finally opted for the ‘movie’ preset settings (even after comparing to the very thorough CNET settings). Cannot believe the clarity of the images. Really looks great!!
AutoMotion Plus is a personal taste. I wavered for a couple weeks, and have decided to leave it off. It is a neat effect — makes things look like you are watching hidef home movies (even theatrical releases), almost a 3D effect even. But, I personally prefer leaving it off.
Sports in hidef are amazing. Upgraded my cable package for HD. And, honestly, I don’t even watch non-hidef channels anymore. The difference is night and day!! Like going from VHS to DVD, or Atari/NES to Playstation. A-Mazing!!
Upgraded to a PS3 … and: UPCONVERT WORKS!! Was REALLY concerned that my 100s of standard def DVDs would look like VHS tapes. But — they do not. They look BETTER!! All my ‘old’ movies are new again!! And, side-by-side with Bluray (The Dark Knight and 300), my eye could not tell a discernable difference. I’m sure there were, but I was more than pleased with the results.
Grabbed HDMI cables from Amazon at a fraction the cost of the local store cables, and they work fantastically!! Already had a 5.1 surround system, so audio was never a concern.
The ‘Touch of Color’ is not terribly noticable in the 630. Even in stores it seemed darker and less pronounced than on other models (700-900 series). Not a distraction at all. A very nice television all around. Plenty of inputs/outputs, and even makes analog/Wii images look great!!
Cannot believe I waited so long to move to HD. The Samsung LN52A630 is a fantastic HD television. I will be purchasing a smaller Samsung for a bedroom soon as well. Great quality, great picture, you will NOT be disappointed!!
5 Stars Glad I went with the A630 over the A650
I did a lot of research before I bought this TV. When I first started it was between the Sharp Aquos, Sony Bravia W-Series, and Samsung’s A650. After reading many reviews and in store viewing sessions I decided that Samsung provided the best TV for the money. The only problem that I had was that I was hesitant because of the glossy screen on the A650. Fortunately I found my answer in the A630 and I never looked back.
I must say this TV has been nothing short of great. The picture is wonderful and as many others have vouched, I have not had any problems with glare. The sound leaves a little to be desired, but after picking up an Onkyo receiver and a Polk Surroundbar 50, that is no longer an issue. Also with the addition of the receiver their is definitely no concern about the amount of HDMI inputs that I have.
All in all this is a great TV and would give nothing but the highest marks for it.
5 Stars Very happy with this LCD TV…
Bought the Samsung LN52A630 together with Sony’s BDVIS1000 system and am very happy with combination.
Originally was going to order Sony 52 XBR6 model since it had better audio specs for the built-in speakers — instead when Sammy LN52A630 and Sony BDVIS1000 together were priced lower than Sony’s 52 inch XBR6, was happy to hit the Buy Now button.
Cheers,
Mehrdad
